Now that we have our first light rail constructed in Seattle, we wonder about who uses the system and whether high density development will occur close to the lines once our economy recovers. Is now the best time to construct new rail lines in Seattle, Tacoma and beyond? Would purchasing a home near proposed lines be a good investment, both in terms of home resale value and less auto dependence for yourself? Nationwide, projects are moving forward, and having some success, particular those lines being reconstructed from abandoned street car lines.
