It was sad to hear the frustration expressed by neighbors to the proposed Metropolitan Market development. My question is, why would Metropolitan Market even chose to stay in this original location, when the market rent for this space will skyrocket AND they can focus their resources on their other store down the hill? Community members were particularly concerned about the 18 wheel truck deliveries that are accessed from alley ways and other tight roadways. Will Metro Market vanish and be replaced by the proposed apartments and smaller scale retail below?
Throughout the city we are seeing many “mixed use” developments being constructed. Many of the retail spaces below have vacancy signs in their windows.
