Should I send a letter to the seller with my offer?

Seattle is a crazy “multiple offer market” right now, so home buyers are struggling to find ways to make their house offers stand out to sellers. One way for buyers to do this is to write a personal letter to the seller. When writing this letter, buyers should try to focus on what they think might be important to the seller, ie. why the seller loved the house and neighborhood and why they will too! Care should be taken to avoid any fair housing law violations when writing the letter. Many sellers want to rest assured that the next owner will care for and enjoy their home as much as they did. It’s interesting how some sellers will make a counteroffer to the party to most seems to want their house. Sometimes sellers even accept a slightly lower offer from someone they think will appreciate their home the most.
